We'd been thinking about doing a Clip Action (internally referred to as the "Clip Actuated Bolt Action" or CABA) for a while but couldn't come up with a new or interesting way of doing it that was distinct from all the other pens out there. Then, some time in late 2025, we had the idea of a milled and bent titanium clip with a relief cut that keeps it just off the body to ensure good tension on both thin materials like dress shirts and thick materials like jeans. Matt and the team got to work creating the models which resulted in a 2-piece, dovetail-slotted carrier to secure the clip. The end result is a fidget-friendly mechanism that's a ton of fun to use and is a natural addition to our existing catalog. Made from titanium and offered in three finishes (Machined, Stonewashed, DLC) in both Standard and Short lengths, the Clip Action is our take on a simple yet elegant mechanism built to withstand a lifetime of use.

BEFORE YOU CHOOSE

DLC stands for "Diamond-Like Carbon," an extremely hard, low-friction coating that's applied over titanium using an outside process. It's a finish, not a base material: the pen underneath is still machined titanium, with the DLC layer bonded on top. The result is a deep, matte-black surface that's exceptionally resistant to scratches and wear, so it keeps its stealthy look through years of daily carry. If you want the toughness of titanium in an all-black pen, DLC is the finish to choose.

Our most popular pen, by far, over the past 8+ years is the Titanium Bolt Action Standard. It's the perfect length, weight, and feel for a true everyday carry pen. One that can live in your pocket for years and still look good as new. If there's one pen we recommend more than any other without disappointment, it's that one.

Each length ships with a refill sized to fit it. The Standard comes with a black Pilot G2 0.7mm, the Short with a black Schmidt EasyFlow 9000 medium, and the Mini with a black Pilot G2 Mini 0.7mm. Plenty of customers swap in a personal favorite and our pens accept a wide range of "Euro Style" for Standard lengths and "Parker Style" for Short lengths.
